A recent survey of 2700 doctors and scientists by the British Medical Journal reveals that 13% of research scientists have “witnessed colleagues intentionally altering or fabricating data during their research or for purposes of publication”. That included “inappropriately adjusting, excluding, altering or fabricating data”.

Very disturbing evidence that children’s development is being harmed, in several ways, by exposure to permitted levels of  pesticides in our food - mostly fruits and vegetables. The only sensible way to protect kids from this type of poisoning – during pregnancy, too –  is to use organic produce and juices.

BSAF, an important player in the field, has pulled its biotechnology interests – including GMOs – out of the EU, citing “lack of acceptance in the market”, i..e. persistent resistance from European consumers to the prospect of their food being contaminated with genetically-modified ingredients. This represents a significant victory for the growing numbers who are aware of the emerging health and environmental hazards of this deeply unnatural – and largely failed – technology. Of course, as this article reminds us, BSAF will doubtless redouble its efforts to persuade countries beyond Europe to purchase its GM offerings.

This Irish Times article highlights the relentless march of diabetes, with all the stats, risk factors and warnings we are getting used to. But it also gives a flavour of what living with diabetes is like, for two people who’ve struggled with it for years.

As the obesity crisis and fears about its consequences grow ever more scary, medical experts are deploying starker language in the hope of getting the public in general – and politicians in particular – to actually start doing something about it. There are some interesting quotes in this Irish Times account of last week’s Obesity Forum in Dublin. We will post the actual report as soon as it comes out.

This is a really well-balanced article explaining how easily it can happen that a diagnosis of dementia could be caused simply by a vitamin B12 deficiency. We nearly all of us have elderly relatives….think about it!
