A recent survey of 2700 doctors and scientists by the British Medical Journal reveals that 13% of research scientists have “witnessed colleagues intentionally altering or fabricating data during their research or for purposes of publication”. That included “inappropriately adjusting, excluding, altering or fabricating data”.
Very disturbing evidence that children’s development is being harmed, in several ways, by exposure to permitted levels of pesticides in our food - mostly fruits and vegetables. The only sensible way to protect kids from this type of poisoning – during pregnancy, too – is to use organic produce and juices.
BSAF, an important player in the field, has pulled its biotechnology interests – including GMOs – out of the EU, citing “lack of acceptance in the market”, i..e. persistent resistance from European consumers to the prospect of their food being contaminated with genetically-modified ingredients. This represents a significant victory for the growing numbers who are aware of the emerging health and environmental hazards of this deeply unnatural – and largely failed – technology. Of course, as this article reminds us, BSAF will doubtless redouble its efforts to persuade countries beyond Europe to purchase its GM offerings.
This Irish Times article highlights the relentless march of diabetes, with all the stats, risk factors and warnings we are getting used to. But it also gives a flavour of what living with diabetes is like, for two people who’ve struggled with it for years.
As the obesity crisis and fears about its consequences grow ever more scary, medical experts are deploying starker language in the hope of getting the public in general – and politicians in particular – to actually start doing something about it. There are some interesting quotes in this Irish Times account of last week’s Obesity Forum in Dublin. We will post the actual report as soon as it comes out.
This is a really well-balanced article explaining how easily it can happen that a diagnosis of dementia could be caused simply by a vitamin B12 deficiency. We nearly all of us have elderly relatives….think about it!
A clear insight into how the food industry works to distort the science and thus to delay progress in tackling the health crisis caused by junk foods and drinks. Seems the tobacco industry may have handed them the script.
We know type 2 diabetes can be prevented, and even reversed, through straightforward diet and lifestyle adjustments. We also know the same approach minimizes the costly collateral damage of diabetes to its sufferers. Yet we are constantly fed horror statistics about the rising tide of diabetes as if it were simply inevitable. What’s going on? This fascinating piece from the top team at Alliance for Natural Health puts it all into perspective.
GMO crops have been in commercial use on several continents (Europe excepted) for decades already. So you’d expect clear evidence by now to dispel claims that GMOs are harmful to human and environmental health, and yet fail to improve yields for the farmer. This article reports on a large international study that strongly supports these claims. Other recent research from Canada found that toxic insecticides engineered into certain foods accumulate in the human body. Right now, the future for GMOs is looking about as secure as the Euro.
As this article reveals, diabetes in the UK is now the No 1 health concern. On current trends the costs of insulin, medication, treating side effects and managing the consequences are set to bankrupt the NHS. And in case you thought diabetes is only a problem among overweight and older people…. read on.
Evidence based – perhaps not?
